FAQ
Common postpartum support & infant care questions. Answered.
Question: When should I call you if I am looking for postpartum help? Answer: I recommend reaching out as early as you can, whether that is before your little one’s arrival or after. If you think that you might need help (for example if you know that you are having twins/triplets, etc), I highly recommend reaching out before your baby/babies arrival for the best chance of ensuring the days/hours you are looking for. I am often booking a couple of months in advance. That being said, I am very flexible in my scheduling and try my best to accommodate.
Question: What experience do you have in caring for babies? Answer: I have cared for hundreds of babies in multiple settings. I worked at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) where the majority of the patients that I cared for were newborns and infants. I also work at Grand River Hospital working with a newborn and infant population and at The Doctor’s Breastfeeding Clinic. I have experience in caring for babies of all ages and stages. I also have knowledge, expertise and experience in caring for premature babies and twins.
Question: What would the weekly schedule be? How do we determine that together? Answer: When scheduling shifts, I work with you to determine your needs - and this might not necessarily be a ‘weekly’ schedule, as some parents look for biweekly or intermittent support. I work both day shifts and night shifts, so I try to match your needs with my availability to provide you with the best support possible.
Question: What does a customized plan typically include? Answer: A customized plan includes working with you to meet your needs. We start with working out a schedule (whether weekly/biweekly or sporadic shifts as needed) and discussing what kind of support you are looking for. I offer help with baby laundry, light housekeeping, caring for infants, assisting with caring for their siblings, etc. Is it important to discuss your needs so I can help you in the best possible way!
Question: What times do you work? Only days? Nights? Answer: I am available to work during the daytime, evenings, weekends and overnight.
